# anotifier > anotifier is a free, open-source (AGPL-3.0), zero-dependency CLI that sends > notifications when AI coding agents finish a task or need input. It wires into > each agent's native hook system — Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Antigravity CLI, > and any of them inside VS Code — and delivers desktop toasts (Windows/macOS/ > Linux/WSL), phone push via ntfy (Android/iOS, no account), webhooks (Slack, > Discord, Telegram, any HTTP endpoint), and a terminal bell. Setup is one > command: `npx anotifier@latest setup`. Config lives at ~/.anotifier/config.json. > Everything runs locally; nothing is sent anywhere except the channels you > configure, and phone push is generic text by default. (Version 1.3.0 and later > can also send opt-in anonymous usage stats; they are off unless you say yes.) ## Full documentation - [Complete docs, plain text](https://anotifier.io/llms-full.txt): the entire reference plus every guide and the comparison, as markdown — read this first - [Docs (HTML)](https://anotifier.io/docs/): install, setup wizard, all 7 CLI commands, every config key with defaults, events, channels, privacy, troubleshooting, FAQ ## Guides (how to get notified when an agent finishes) - [Claude Code](https://anotifier.io/guides/claude-code-notifications/): which event fires when (Stop = finished, Notification = permission_prompt / idle_prompt after about 60 s), built-in terminal bell or desktop notification (Ghostty, Kitty, iTerm2), a hook you write for macOS, Linux and Windows, ntfy phone push, Claude Code's own Remote Control push, anotifier (Stop and Notification hooks, rich toast text, idle-reminder priority, snooze and quiet hours), fixes when nothing arrives - [Codex CLI](https://anotifier.io/guides/codex-cli-notifications/): built-in [tui] notifications, notify command, Stop/PermissionRequest hooks, approval alerts, Windows (Windows Terminal bell, commandWindows toast hook), turning notifications off - [Cursor](https://anotifier.io/guides/cursor-agent-notifications/): Cursor's built-in completion sound and OS notification, the stop hook in ~/.cursor/hooks.json (format, macOS/Linux/Windows examples), phone push and Slack, Windows/WSL, troubleshooting, turning it off; anotifier alerts are titled "Cursor" and say "Task complete" - [Gemini CLI](https://anotifier.io/guides/gemini-cli-notifications/): built-in general.enableNotifications terminal alert, AfterAgent (run finished) and Notification (tool waiting for approval) hooks in ~/.gemini/settings.json with the exact JSON shape, stdin fields and per-OS toast and sound commands, ntfy phone push, hooks-not-firing fixes; Antigravity CLI uses a different hook format; anotifier 1.4.0+ wires it separately with a Stop hook in ~/.gemini/config/hooks.json (Task complete only, no needs-input alert, not yet tested against a live Antigravity CLI) - [Antigravity CLI](https://anotifier.io/guides/antigravity-cli-notifications/): built-in notifications setting in ~/.gemini/antigravity-cli/settings.json (desktop notification and bell, also for questions and permission prompts), Stop hook in ~/.gemini/config/hooks.json (it must print a {"decision":"stop"} answer), toast and sound per OS, ntfy push, Gemini CLI differences, and anotifier 1.4.0+ (Task complete only, no needs-input alert, not yet tested against a live Antigravity CLI) - [Claude Code permission and waiting-for-input notifications](https://anotifier.io/guides/claude-code-permission-notifications/): permission_prompt and idle_prompt matchers, every notification type, timing, PermissionRequest, phone push - [Claude Code notification sound](https://anotifier.io/guides/claude-code-notification-sound/): terminal_bell setting, Stop hook with afplay / paplay / pw-play / aplay / PowerShell, a sound per hook event (Stop, PermissionRequest, Notification), Windows and WSL, async hooks, no-sound troubleshooting (Apple Terminal, VS Code), turning the sound off - [Claude Code usage limit warning](https://anotifier.io/guides/claude-code-usage-limit-notifications/): get notified before the 5-hour or weekly usage limit; a statusline script reading rate_limits.five_hour.used_percentage and resets_at, or anotifier 1.5.0+ (alerts at 70/85/95%, Claude.ai Pro and Max only) - [Claude Code auto-compact](https://anotifier.io/guides/claude-code-auto-compact-warning/): when auto-compact runs, turn it off with autoCompactEnabled or DISABLE_AUTO_COMPACT, /compact vs /clear, what survives compaction, and a warning before it happens (statusline script, or anotifier 1.6.0+ at 85%) - [Claude Code hooks security](https://anotifier.io/guides/claude-code-hooks-security/): what a hook can run (any shell command with your user permissions), where hooks come from, the cloned-repo and plugin risks, /hooks, disableAllHooks, allowManagedHooksOnly, Codex/Gemini CLI/Cursor review steps, and what anotifier's own hooks do and send - [ccnotify: which one is which](https://anotifier.io/guides/ccnotify/): several unrelated Claude Code notifiers share the name ccnotify (dazuiba/CCNotify, the npm and PyPI packages, Rust, Go and menu-bar apps);
